Last updated October 1, 2026

Shorts Studio is a free, open-source Windows app from Rotten Apple, published at byttenapple.com/assets/shorts-studio. It turns Twitch clips into vertical videos and can post them to YouTube and TikTok for you. This page explains what it does with data. In short: everything happens on your computer, nothing is sold or tracked, and your accounts are only used for the posts you choose to make.

On your computer

Shorts Studio stores your settings, your Shorts, the speech model it uses for captions, and a log of what it did in %APPDATA%\Shorts Studio, and the finished videos in Videos\Shorts Studio. Captions are made on your computer; your audio is not sent anywhere. You can delete these folders at any time. Uninstalling the app leaves them in place so your Shorts aren't lost; delete them yourself to remove everything.

Shorts Studio has no ads, analytics or tracking, and the developer receives none of your videos, clips or account information.

Twitch

Shorts Studio reads public information from Twitch: the clips of the channel you enter (or the clip links you paste), the clip videos, and the public chat replay of the stream around each clip. It doesn't sign in to Twitch and can't see anything that isn't public.

YouTube (Google)

If you choose to connect YouTube, Shorts Studio asks Google for permission to:

  • Upload videos to your YouTube channel (the youtube.upload scope), to upload the Shorts you choose, with the title, description, visibility, audience setting and publish time you set.
  • See your email address (the openid and email scopes), only to show which account is connected.

Shorts Studio doesn't read, change or delete anything else on your YouTube channel or Google account. The access key Google gives it is stored only on your computer, encrypted with Windows' own data protection, and is never sent to the developer or anyone else. It is used only to talk to Google and YouTube, when you upload a Short.

Shorts Studio uses YouTube API Services. By using its YouTube features you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google handles your data under the Google Privacy Policy.

Shorts Studio's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

To disconnect, press Disconnect in Shorts Studio (Settings → Posting). This forgets the key on your computer and asks Google to revoke it. You can also remove Shorts Studio's access at any time in your Google Account permissions.

TikTok

If you choose to connect TikTok, Shorts Studio asks TikTok for permission to:

  • Read your basic profile (the user.info.basic scope), to show which account is connected.
  • Upload videos to your TikTok drafts (video.upload), when you choose "Send to my TikTok drafts".
  • Post videos to your profile (video.publish), when you choose to post, with the caption, audience, interaction settings and content disclosure you pick.

The access keys are stored only on your computer, encrypted with Windows' own data protection. One step of signing in goes through byttenapple.com: TikTok requires the app's secret to turn a sign-in code (or an expired key) into a new key, and a desktop app can't keep a secret. So Shorts Studio sends that code to byttenapple.com, which adds the secret, asks TikTok, and passes TikTok's answer straight back to your computer. byttenapple.com does not store or log these codes or keys. Like any website, its hosting may keep ordinary request logs (such as the time and IP address of a request) for a short while.

To disconnect, press Disconnect in Shorts Studio. You can also remove its access in the TikTok app under Settings and privacy → Security and permissions → Apps and services permissions. TikTok handles your data under the TikTok Privacy Policy.

Sharing

Shorts Studio doesn't sell, rent or share your data with anyone. It only sends what's needed to Twitch, Google/YouTube and TikTok to do what you asked, and the TikTok sign-in step described above.

Children

Shorts Studio is meant for streamers and isn't directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date. The app's source code is public, so you can always see exactly what it does.
